建築と星座Architecture and Constellations

ル・コルビュジエのサヴォア邸に、幼い頃から強い印象を抱いてきた。横長の窓がもたらす透明感と、ピロティによる浮遊感。その建物が空へ浮かび上がるイメージに、ある時、星座が重なった。

人工と自然、実用と占術、構造と直感。対照的な建築と星座が、反発しながらも同居する音楽を目指した。全12の部分では、建築の様々な側面や星々をつなぐイメージが、時に唐突に、時にゆるやかにつなぎ合わされていく。

I have been fascinated by Le Corbusier's Villa Savoye since childhood: the transparency of its long horizontal windows, and the floating impression created by its pilotis. An image of the house rising into the sky eventually came to overlap with constellations.

The work brings together these contrasting worlds—artificial and natural, practical and divinatory, structural and intuitive—so that they coexist while resisting one another. Its twelve sections suggest different aspects of the building and of connecting stars, joined sometimes abruptly and sometimes gradually.
